Foam is made by mixing oil-based chemicals that react to each other and transform from a liquid state into a solid state. When heated and expanded by chemical injections, its solid cells either rupture or stay intact, determining the type of foam that’s created. Ruptured expanded cells produce open cell foam that is softer and more pliable, and expanded intact cells produce closed cell foam that is harder and denser.

Plank foam is more resistant to wear and tear because of its strong polyethylene material. In addition to being dustproof and grease resistant, closed cell foam is more water-resistant than its open cell counterpart. Polyethylene foam can be used for long-term storage, sill plate gaskets, transporting electronics and automobile components, and more. You’ll find the plank foam you need right here at TPC.
